Intense Pulsed Light "IPL"
IPL Photorejuvenation
What is IPL?
Photorejuvenation using IPL® is a non-invasive treatment that treats skin damage without disruption of the skin's surface, hence, no "downtime". Intense Pulsed Light (IPL®) can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL®) technology is a treatment that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, the signs of photo-aging and small blood capillaries. It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction, through a process called photorejuvenation.
How is Photorejuvenation performed?
A cold gel is applied to the treatment area, and patients are given protective eyewear. During treatment, the smooth glass surface of the IPL handpiece is gently applied to the skin, and precise pulses of light penetrate the area being treated. You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band. A topical anesthetic cream may be used but is seldom required. Treatments generally provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and high patient satisfaction.
How does IPL work?
The IPL delivers a special range of wavelengths of light in customizable pulses through a sapphire tip gently onto your skin. The light is absorbed either superficially by broken capillaries and dark pigment or deeper by larger vessels and collagen. Dilated capillaries coagulate, pigmented lesions darken and then slough off and new collagen fibers are laid down, giving the skin a renewed and more youthful appearance.
What conditions can be treated using the IPL?
Many conditions such as broken capillaries, benign brown pigment, age spots (sun-induced freckles), mottled pigmentation and poikiloderma can be treated with IPL.
IPL Hair Removal
How does IPL remove hair?
Highly controlled flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair-filled follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages or destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle without damaging the surrounding tissue.
What happens during a treatment?
You will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes during the treatment. Ultrasound gel is applied to the area being treated. The IPL hand piece is then applied to your skin and pulses of light begins disabling your unwanted hair.
Can all hair be treated?
IPL's unique design offers you customized treatment according to your hair color, texture and the location of body hair. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown, and red) can be treated effectively.
What kind of results should I expect?
IPL technology has been proven to create a permanent reduction in hair growth following each treatment in most skin types. The number of treatment required depends on several factors related to your specific kind of hair and skin. A customized treatment program will be designed for you along with an estimate of how many treatment you may need to meet your expectations.

Derma Genesis® Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion procedure is performed under the supervision of a certified professional. Patients can be confident they will be treated with the utmost care. The procedure is fast, predictable and painless.
Microdermabrasion is commonly used to treat and/or diminish:
- Blackheads and Whiteheads
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Sun-Damaged Skin
- Acne-Prone Skin
- Superficial Age Spots
- Hyperpigmentation
- Oily Skin
- Dry or Patchy Skin
The procedure is performed by using a handpiece that the operator passes over the skin two or three times. This evenly removes the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of skin. The underlying epidermis is also stimulated by the abrasion and the vacuum. This promotes the generation of new collagen, which thickens the dermis and improves resistance to the effects of aging.
The average microderm procedure takes less than 30 minutes. Many will notice improvements in the texture and appearance of their skin immediately after the first treatment. The long-term benefits of multiple procedures every 4-6 weeks can be remarkable.
Acne Surgery
Acne surgery is a procedure performed in our office to remove acne lesions. These include opening up comedones and pimples by using a needle or small pointed blade and expressing the lesions with an extractor.
